The Art of the Cleanse
A proper cleanse is the foundation of healthy skin. It should thoroughly purify your canvas without stripping moisture or leaving the skin feeling tight and dry.
The Benefits
-
Purifies: Melts away makeup, pollution, surface impurities, and excess oil.
-
Clarifies: Helps keep pores clear to prevent congestion and blemishes.
-
Revitalizes: Promotes natural circulation to give the skin a healthy, oxygenated glow.
-
Balances: Targets unwanted, blemish-causing bacteria while respecting the skin barrier.
Who & When
-
For Everyone: An essential daily ritual for all skin types.
-
Twice Daily: Cleanse morning and night. If you have an active workout session or a high-exposure day, add in another cleanse.
-
AM: A light, gentle wash to refresh the skin for the day ahead.
-
PM: A deep, intentional cleanse to reset the skin from makeup, daily grime, sunscreen, and urban pollution.
-
The Technique
-
Apply Dry: Start with clean, dry hands. Gently massage the cleanser onto a dry face, eyes, and neck using circular motions.
-
Emulsify: After 30 seconds, wet your fingertips with lukewarm water and continue massaging for another 30 to 60 seconds. Focus on the hairline, jawline, and T-zone.
-
Rinse & Dry: Remove thoroughly, then gently pat dry with a clean towel.
The Double Cleanse Philosophy
If you wear makeup and sunscreen daily, a single wash rarely cuts it. You don’t necessarily need a separate product to achieve a true deep clean—you just need a second step. Repeating your cleanse ensures a perfectly purified canvas while keeping your ritual beautifully minimalist.
-
Step 1 — The Dissolve: Apply your cleanser to dry skin to break down surface makeup, oil, and mineral SPF. Massage for 30 seconds to loosen the bonds, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, and gently pat the skin damp.
-
Step 2 — The Purify: Apply a second round of the same cleanser. Moisten your fingertips to emulsify the formula, massaging for an additional 30 to 60 seconds to deeply clean the pores before lifting everything away with a warm, damp washcloth.
